Taking firstborn home
TO MARLON

I first saw you in the hospital

You gave a little cry, wondering where you were,

Your mother was feeding you

you were very close to her.

I was very happy...

We drove you home in a rented car

Through Colombo, to our home in a suburb

It was in the evening, I remember

You were facing the west, in the vehicle

You tried to open your eyes

But the sunlight did not allow you to do so...

Immediately you closed your eyes

And again you tried to open them.

To see the world

To embrace it

You might have thought 'What is this light?'

It was the 'Sun', my little son!
