You don't have to believe in the war to honor the people who go to fight.
Gather round my dearest friends
I tell you a story with a tragic end
About a boy who went to war
For God and Country and something more
He fought for what he loved and lived
And would die for those of us that hid
Behind the borders of states and laws
and picketed against his very cause
So who were they to say whats right
to ask the question "why did he fight?"
When all he knew was of his wife
Who in this war had lost her life
She fought for what she loved and lived
and she died for those of us who hid
Behind the lies of the media
And the military propaganda
He had his life, his heart and soul
buried so deep in a six foot hole.
He chose to go to war and fight
and hoped that his descion was right
So all of you still left behind
the ones who live behind state lines
Show your support, your love and care
To the ones who fight, and the ones who dare
To the ones who leave, and miss these years
To the ones who left, and were robbed of years
