I went to visit my best friend. This is how I felt the next day.
After I saw you yesterday
I had cuts on my legs, too
I couldn't get my meds to work
my eyes changed from green, to blue

I left your couch just yesterday
I so wanted to be
your Super-Jesus
but I had not one
parable,
or salve.
Our Holy Father won't speak to you
anymore than he will to me.
All I had
were clove cigarettes
and more favors.
You were down to nothing
so I took some with me.
My most tender sister,
Who will kiss you for me?
Babies of my own are yowling...
And when I walked away
my legs were cut,
my heart was scabby,
and my eyes are not green,
they see blue

When I left your house just yesterday
I took all that with me
but I left a piece of my heart with you
to beat on beside you
in case my babies are yowling.
