I used to surround myself in music to protect myself... This is how it worked...
I hear the clock
ticking away the seconds.
Each second of my life
flying by.
I dance through my days,
dancing to the music, the melody,
of my life.
Over and over,
it plays in my head.
Yes, always there...
Like a shadow..
following footsteps.

I feel it all around me.
The clock, keeping time.
Tick-tock, tick-tock.
The song weaves itself,
wraps around my body,
the notes protecting me.
From the world.
From myself.
From the souls
so full of anger and hate.
The frustration of life.
Never hearing the music of the world.

The melody is haunting,
but still full of hope.
It carries my mistakes,
but also my hopes, dreams, fears.
It reminds me of them,
tells me not to slip back.
Don't forget. Don't forget!

I forgot...
