new poems written in one day.
Freedom

Red, white, and blue,
Always standing tall,
Never going to fall,

Red, white, and blue,
Singing to the moon,
Dancing in the sun,
Freedom screams.
Justice is won.

Red, white, and blue,
One horrific day,
Many lives lost.
Bringing families together,
Growing, sharing, mourning,
Taking care of one another.

Red, white, and blue,
Sing the song that can be played
Sing the song that wants to be heard
Sing the song of the
Red, white, and blue.

Pain

Rock cold in the iron immobility of death.
A family mourns over a statue, once alive.
Tears dropped on a casket, fell like rain.
Flowers lay around, a final good bye.
Rock cold in the iron immobility of death.

Tearing and sobbing; trying to speak.
A river of words and drowning passions,
Necks stretched forward with listening ears.
Reliving the life of one so great.
Rock cold in the iron immobility of death.

A child clutching her teddy bear, whispers to it...
“Goodbye daddy, I can’t wait to see you again”
Places the bear on his casket.
Rock cold in the iron immobility of death.

Words of the mans achievements dance around the room,
Flying by the ears of his family.
Rock cold in the iron immobility of death.

Mourning

The Towers fell,
The Building blew
The Unsinkable sank,
They should ‘a knew.

The Twister spun,
The Typhoon destroyed,
The wars have raged,
The soldiers have been deployed.

So many disasters,
So many hearts,
So many lives,
Waiting for the firework sparks.

Who am I?

Invisible am I,
For no one sees me.

Underestimated by some,
For no one knows me.

I stand alone,
For no one is brave enough to stand besides me.

I sing alone,
For no one knows I have a voice.

Take the time to see who I am,
For I may surprise you.

Nature Seasons

The grass is green,
The moon shines bright,
The sun shines,
Stars are dots of light.

Look outside at the snow.
Heat fogging the glass,
Children playing outside
The fire blazes, a red glow.

The leaves turn brown,
Drifting to the ground.
Ending the heat,
Wind blows fiercely, all around.

Lust or love?

You wave at me-
My mind races.
You smile at me-
My knees get weak.
You talk to me-
My words get jumbled.
You finally ask me out-
I can’t remember how to say yes.
You hold my hand-
I see no one but you.
You kiss me-
I forget my name.
You say, “I love you”-
I tear up and say it back.

Cautious

One step forward,
Two steps back,
I fell hard,
But there’s still something I lack.

You don’t know what,
You put me through.
Don’t know how,
You brought me down.

You told me that you loved me,
You told me that you cared
You said if I ever needed you,
You will soon be there.
You led me to believe that.
You said you would never leave
But that was just a stupid lie,
One of the thousands you chose to weave.

You changed my life in the blink of an eye,
I still don’t know if I should smile or cry.
You told me I was an angel,
And precious like gold.
You said our relationship wont tarnish,
Nor ever grow old.

I used to think you were my personal sun,
Shining bright on the darkest days,
Glowing so radiantly, it was remarkable.
Now I think of you
And don’t know what to do.
All your lies have took a toll.
