Grieving the loss of a relationship
I painted

a glorious picture

of a life

I imagined us living

love treasured

in smiles and tears

fanciful feasts of laughter

journeys

measured by heartbeats.

A life

of rich color and texture

lyrical, rich and free

days of dreams

and bold abandon

wide and deep as the sea.

Without warning, without name

wild winds blew in

swirling, strong, and dark

stealing from my grasp

the dreams I'd held so dear.

The boldly cast colors

faded

lost their beauty

fell away.

Piece by piece

the picture was torn

scattered

lost

to the wind.
