A poem about Vanity
Words, To you I give birth
Sending you forth sailing
On an electric breeze
From the depths of my cave
Into the realms of cyber-space.
Children of my mind
Don’t just sit there trembling in fear,
Spread your wings and fly.
Believe that I hold each of you dear.
I send you forth from this nest
with the tenderness of a kiss.
Know that you will be missed.
Become diamonds, so that you may shine,
bring something back to this cold lair of mine.
Gleam with the beauty of your radiance
So that you can catch her sweet glance,
With the gentleness of your touch,
the softness of your caress, cause her to blush!
Catch the smile of that fellow dreamer,
With the glitter of your glimmer
And offer her this silky red rose
Hidden in the verse of this poem.
Get her drunk off a sip of my burgundy wine
And bring her back to this lonely heart of mine.
But don’t let her see me as I truly am,
This hidden vanity mistaking itself for a man.
