A short story about a human being with feelings of grief, loneliness and depression.

I'm walking down a busy street.
It's the beginning of autumn, and the city is full of life and colour.
The fallen leaves cover the ground as if they too finally lost their battle.
Time seems to have stopped. Like standing in a huge empty space all alone. The silence is killing me.
Laughter, talk and shouting all around me.
  People walk through me.
School is like a halloween party. I am always wearing a mask. I Promise to meet them again on Saturday, as always.
When I walk home time stops again. Nothing happens.
I stop to look at my picture in the mirror, and I see someone else. A ghost, with no purpose.
No personality, no happiness, no sadness. Just a blank stare.
I hear someone shouting at me, although I cannot hear.
Why can I not remember?
Birthdays, meetings, promises, all gone. As if they never existed in the first place.
I am stuck in a world of nothing.
Questions are asked, I do not have an answer.
More dissapointment, more tears and more shouting.
A world of nothing, you say?
Selfish is more like it. Hear I couldn't care less about other people's feelings. Do I?
I can not remember.
Walking down the street again. Ready to face the empty feeling. Here it comes, as if it is waiting for me. I bite my tongue and continue walking.
Yet another promise forgotten.
I never remembered to live.
