About choosing a path that may be taken or unsought.
Mischievously wondering through myself,
My heart beats in a steady rhythm,
The one that we know and trust,
Our misgivings are solely upon ourselves,
So we don’t even give them a second glance,
I thought that our lives were more than this,
They are blank book waiting to be filled,
Not a script waiting to be followed,
So I sit here, waiting and wondering,
Thinking with the idea’s that persist in my mind,
I’m not alone in my way of thinking,
Nor shall I ever be,
Yet I realize that many think against it,
Telling me about the path to be taken,
The one waiting to be followed by my footsteps,
Trails already made by the hands of others,
I stand there watching carefully,
Wondering if that’s really what I want to follow,
Smiling to myself as I look upon each one,
Turning to the next I realize,
That my path was never walked upon,
Never worked upon with the hands of those around me,
It’s not the fact of the world we live in,
Each chooses a path that is destined for them,
Mine stands before me, alone and unsought,
No one goes there for the fear they will be lost,
Not me though, that’s where my heart points me,
In the direction of the path unsought.
