Wild Dark Horse

Standing before me was a wild dark horse.
Bewildered eyes unsheathed from remorse.

Stunned, I became by his centrifugal force.
I trembled in presence of a lone dark horse.

I stepped in closer as to him I was drawn
to his beautiful show and bountiful brawn.

Chilling eyes, like remains of charred coal,
spewing raging pain of his lost mare and foal.

In the distance, shots warned of poachers
out of ignorance for selfless arbitrageurs!

As they approached, he winnied in outrage.
I climbed his back, the world was our stage!

We ran just as hard and fast as we could
saving our own souls like anyone would!

Came to briefly halt south of the Cimarron.
I unmounted and commanded he carry on!

He stood so proud against the sun of dawns,
but in his eyes, the care I had finally drawn!

He nudged my neck showing thankfulness.
I kissed his nose, then his coat I caressed.

For I caught a glimpse of beauty and remorse
in magnificent steed, this wild dark horse!
