This is a poem I had to write for my eigth grade reading teacher, based on a masks theme.
The walls I build
I think I know,
Each nook and cranny
A familiar face.

But each is truly
A stranger to me,
Each wall thicker, sturdier,
Than I know.

I think that I can
knock them down,
Whenever I so choose.
In truth, however,
That is not the truth,
For in the matter
I have no choice.

It takes a friend
To knock them down,
To save me from the
Cage I built.

So please, no matter
What I say,
No matter how I protest,
Stay by me, and please,

Try your best
To fell these walls,
For only you can save me,
From the walls I built.
