I simply speak of another gift given to us that cannot last forever...
In the beginning we are all taught
“Do this!  Do that!”
Others want us to be perfect, flawless,
Yet it is our duty to shatter this hope;

We know that one day, we will change,
The expectations will be higher,
The bar more dementing,
And we must cast aside our freedoms;

Who dares to take away one of life’s precious gifts?
What power makes them bold so?
If such a thing is their intent, the highest charge,
The grandest crime should be accused of them;

Eventually, times will be different,
We must conform and die,
But we will always remember the wonderful times
Given us kindly in our youth
