This is the first poem I have written. Please let me know what you think!
I wish I could smile
Smile the way I used to when my Daddy came home from work
I wish I could laugh
Laugh the way I used to when my stomach began to hurt
I wish smiling was no longer such a convenient lie
And laughing a fake, pathetic attempt to try
I wish the world saw me through both eyes
Instead of the blind one it's so strictly bound by
I wish crying wasn't so easy
And living wasn't so hard
I wish I could just move through life
Without the world's weight and personal disregard
I wish there was something I could do
If only there was something I could do
However until they awake with clear unflawed sight
And admire the beauty only seen through two eyes
All I can do is walk along this path of eternal chaos
Not with deceit, loneliness, hurt, or loss
But with an honest smile and a genuine laugh
As I am the lucky one able to truly witness this beautiful path.
