A poem about how I have kind of abandoned my younger life.
Warehouses are empty, falling apart
Wooden boxes crumbling, empty forever
Numbers I haven't dialed in years

Concrete steps broken to nothing, dust in the end
A windmill ever turning, never seen again
A list of names, addresses somewhere

All the doors are locked, stiff chains around
Beer bottles laying in the sand, never been touched
Faces I've seen, in my head since before

Silos standing silent and tall, unmoved.
A fence cuts through a field, but still not solid
A notebook with my writing, found in a foreign place

Smoke and haze rises and falls, through broken windows
A foundation, rotted wood, and stones, all together under the trees
Pictures, pieces of the past, all away from me

Rusted tracks, covered since the end, unknown now
To the horizon forever, two rails never used again
And the path in my mind has been completely forgotten
