A woman struggles to be combative to get what she wants. She fails.
We arrive after sunset
You grab my hand and lead me
To our spot near the shore

I follow you
like a warrior
trudging after the tribal chief
in the darkness
all senses sharpen
like the tip of a spear

I am wearing my battle mask
so I may ask you
about your promise
to divorce your Muslim wife

But instead I find myself
listening to the
throb
        throb
                throb
between my legs
getting louder and louder
like savage drum beats
signaling war

I lose myself
All i can hear
is the thrusts of your hips
rising and falling
sweet violence
between my legs
stabbing into my soul

everything around me
pulsate
and throb

with my face unmasked
i forget
where i am
i forget
the woman warrior i never was
and instead
I want
and wait
for more.
