A children's tale about a long ago christmas
Of all my Christmas memories,
There is one I hold most dear,
I recall it like it was yesterday,
The vision is crystal clear.
It was Christmas eve,
I had slipped quietly from my bed,
To catch a glimpse of Santa Clause,
His reigndeer,and his sled.
I tiptoed very softly,
So I would not make a sound,
When I got to the end of the stairs,
I took a peek around,
I let out gasp of excitement,
For there was the man himself!
And dancing around the Christmas tree,
I really saw a elf.
They were placing all kinds of treasures,
Beneathe the Christmas tree,
Like a train set for my brother,
And a doll that just had to belong to me.
It was the one I really wanted,
The one that really cried.
And she had real patten leather shoes,
With laces that really tied.
When Santa was done unpacking our gifts,
He took a look around the house,
He laughed out loud at our silly decoratings,
Like our Santa mouse.
He giggled at our ginger man parade,
And our candy cane wreath put a smile upon his face,
But his beautiful blue eyes filled up with tears.
When he saw that baby on the mantle place.
He picked up that little statue
And held it gently to his cheek,
What happened then? Well to my surprise,
Santa began to speak.
"Come here my little child,I want to talk to you."
"I want you to understand, why I do the thing I do."
Then he held the little baby and let out a little sigh,
This baby is the meaning of Christmas,"
"He is the Saviour of you and I."
"I am so thankful for our Lord,"
"And I old his children's dear,"
"That is why I do what I do, Year after year."
"My child,"he said,"It is so important that you know."
"That God gave us His precious Son,
"Because he loved us so."
"And remember, my dear little girl,
No matter how mean wonderful toys I bring,
Nothing will ever compare, to the gift of our mighty King."
Then no other memory I have ever had,
Is more loved or mor adored,
Then of that of me and Santa,
Praying to our Lord.
Then Santa gave a joyful laugh,
That shook his belly like
In that story that gave him fame
He winked at me and went up the chimmey,
As quickly as he came
