riding a bus in the city leads to interesting encounters, some cut you to the marrow
sitting on the bus, minding my own
why couldn't they just leave me alone
a mournfully drunk man, rotten from the inside
long it seemed he had died
although his corpse walked around, still emitting sound

as he sat and talked, asking me why I came to kill all his kin
I gazed upon and felt the burden of sin
why, he asked, is your world so screwed up?
why? why? he cried, did they all have to die?
did they deserve to be murdered in such a way?

As I listened to him speak, I felt far from okay
I heaved a deep sigh, as tears flew from his eye
I began to think to myself....why?
and I said to him, the one that was rot
sitting in that human shaped pot

.....we forgot.

That we came here while fighting
Against wrongs, needing righting
And although it had seemed
We’d met what we’d dreamed
We still took for granted
That all we did see
(iwth a quick war in the making)
Was ours for the taking
