Imaginary description of night scene after a rain
Summer Night Sounds

From secret places under nights dark cloak
After a summer rain we hear tree frogs croak

While in the distance lightning still flashes
Too far away to hear its thundering crashes

The late summer shower has wetted our world
The morrow might reveal new flowers unfurled

Though much cooler than the August afternoon
The steamy night air almost makes one swoon

With eyes adjusted to the cloudy night dark
We spot a partially white cat sneak into the park

With rib lines showing a dog trots down the alley
A dumpster is open behind Bill's Burger Galley

The small town has two traffic lights blinking
Warning drivers who arn't there to be thinking

The steamy silence proves almost too much
Broken by pedestrians talking of movies and such

Conversations fade out as they turn the corner
We turn back to tree frogs as we were former

Their croaking causes us to remember the past
When did we listen to summer night sounds last
