A song I wrote. Enjoy, and interpret it according to how it makes you feel.
Legs like weights.
I try to pass.
Through these gates.
But I’m still held back.

I can just see the horizon.
Through this thicket of trees.
Yet I can’t tell if the sun is shining.
I yearn so much to be free.

But I collapse to my knees.
To the canopy I give my screams.
My heart burns like it’s been branded.
In these woods we are stranded!

A light wind rustles the leaves.
But through these thick trees a breeze is rare.
On the forest floor we grieve.
There’s not much more we can bear.

So I collapse to my knees.
To the canopy I give my screams.
My heart burns like it’s been branded.
In these woods we are stranded!

Perhaps I’ve lost my mind.
After all this wasted time.
But I’ve got to find my way.
There are lives here on the line!

We have all tried our hardest.
Now us left must make a pact.
This problem is our largest.
Now we must fight back!

So we must get up off our knees
The canopy won’t answer our screams!
Our hearts burn like they’ve been branded.
In these damned woods we are stranded!

But we won’t take this anymore.
We scream no longer!
We will settle this last score.
Being stranded has made us stronger!
