Spiritual comparison of people and nature
The Late Season Rose

A rose blossom is limited to not many days
We are similar to a rose in so many ways

The petals of a late season rose turn brown
But its fragrance still drifts across a small town

Pain may twist the face of a grandmother to frown
Memories of her linger as in the grave she lies down

While the fragrance of the rose is still on duty
A late season rose loses its magnificent beauty

While our future bleaches like sun curing hay
Our memories remind us that we've had our day

The wilted appearance can make us feel so sad
The smell reminds us of beauty the rose once had

A bouquet of roses are like friends we've gathered
We lose one by one as they grow old and withered

A person who knows Christ is a person who knows
We'll again see the beauty of the late season rose
