Poem 3 in series.
My feet tromped steadily,
With determination,
Down the concrete path laid before them,
The journey was planned,
And the costs were known,
To all of the body,
Except the soul,

Why must we go down this way?
The soul asked uncertainly,
To the ever sure feet,

I have no choice,
The feet defended,
It is these overly large shoes who choose
Our path ahead,
They were paid for in blood,
And I love them so,
But I am no longer in control,

But I wish to go another way!
The soul sighed,
You love these shoes so much,
That you would relinquish me,
To a road I am not sure,
I wish to live?

Yes,
The feet replied,
These shoes have protected me,
From these rocky roads so far past,
And they know what’s best,
I love them dearly,
And they return my affection ten fold,

I feel you love,
The soul recognized,
But I cannot agree,
I want my own path to lead,

I will not halt,
The feet answered,
Even if I could,
It isn’t fair to you,
Oh soul,
But it is what I must do,

Then how is this to be resolved?
Soul asked fearfully,

Why don’t you ask the heart?
My feet suggested,

Soul looked away in dismay,
For the heart was busy,
With problems of its own,
To busy to see ,
What path the feet were on.
