This poems takes a familiar spin on racism towards black people and how it hurts
He bombed my world, without care.
As the pain was engulfed through my veins,
The poisonous substances diffused into my heart.
He cured me from being colourblind.

To kill my soul, she would dare,
Telling me that it aint nothing
Even though it is,
She cured me from being colourblind

It aint nothing?
Telling me the only positive thing about me is HIV
Telling me I can’t even afford a 9” TV
Telling me the difference between a pair of jeans and I
Is that a pair of jeans has only one fly.
Telling me that the only reason I am fast
Is to run away from cops
Telling me that life aint meant for me
And that I was meant to be hang in a tree

It aint nothing?
With every door that closes, another one closes harder
Just ‘cause of notions that my lingo’s ‘badder’
The dream of Papa Luther has turned into a nightmare
The Earth cured me from being colorblind

So what if I can rhyme Obama with yo mama
So what if I’m a good cotton farmer
So what if I always got a hoody
So what if I got a massive booty
So what’s the matter foo
Why can’t I be someone like you
