short poem
Blind faith and empty promises
led me on this road.
False regrets and emotionless tears
cover the footsteps
too far gone to retrace.
Good times, roaring laughter
replaced now by silence.
(a fear of being heard)
The paths led me one way
and spread another for you,
each new step forcing
the distance to become greater.
Secrets unraveled,
mysteries unsolved.
Blind faith led to clear agitation.
Empty promises to pure heartache.
Each step, a lesson learned.
Each memory, a piece of the puzzle.
A puzzle of the past
strewn about the floor
for sleepless nights and
sullen days to examine,
until the pieces come together
and every step is replaced
with a meaningful memory
of youth-invoked ignorance.
