The envious moon
Her breasts crowned the fallen berries,
breaking through the frost
with their fragrant warmth.
They iced the minutes, freezing time
to entrance the glow of the stars,
but their beauty was reflected
In the paleness of the skin
and so captured the glare of the moon.
It reached with light to touch the flesh
and diseased it with the ripples of cooled wind,
jealousy spurring its actions
with a blackened hand
to paint them with night
and splinter their shape.
