A poem about marriage. (2nd Place PDG Contest)
(To be read slowly)

"Forever," the man said,
the words are seldom thought,
when read. He said them slow,
so all could hear, whether far,
or whether near

Upon the stage, the trio stands,
all smiles and heads held high.
Young eyes do shine,
with passion's light,
and rings around their hands.

From this day, one never knows,
where winds of change
shall blow. Hardship. Some.
But few shall pass, this
twisted, wicked path.

He spoke of honor, love and truths,
and things which make one strong.
He failed to tell,
the other side --
of trials, lies, and rues.

And from this match, a child
born, when passion was
not mild. Alas with time,
it fades away, as youths
have hairs of color and gray.

And suddenly, the pair they look,
on eyes they do not know.
Though said then they,
love, honor, obey,
a promise that they took.

"Forever," the man said,
the words are seldom thought,
when read. He said them slow,
so all could hear, whether far,
or whether near.
