A poem offering an interesting view of perception. All criticism wanted and appreciated
Four doors were placed in front of me,
the fool said “time to choose.
This is the worst place you could be,
what do you have to lose?”

I turned my gaze upon the portals,
sputtering I froze.
How could I live my life knowing,
that I ever chose?

The first read hate in flaming red,
and forced me to my knees
From my soul the evil fed
ignorant to my pleas

The second was white as a dove,
and put my heart to rest.
Etched above was the word love.
I felt warmth in my chest.

The third appeared rather plain,
until i saw a crack.
Carved into the wood was pain,
it forced me to step back.

The final door was worn with age,
and about to deteriorate.
Set above an iron cage,
within it I saw fate.

The fool saw my vacant look,
and helped me to decide.
One by one the hinges shook,
I saw what was inside.

Through hate I saw two feuding friends,
It must have been a while.
As they hugged i saw the tears,
They tried to reconcile.

Love showed something unforseen,
two lovers during a fight.
The two created quite a scene,
and parted ways that night.

Pain concealed a woman's scream,
as she lay beside her mate.
a newborn that fulfilled their dream,
was more than i could take.

Fate revealed countless roads,
crossing here and there.
Travellers were sharing loads,
All seemed content to share.

Confused I looked upon the fool,
He said “It's time to go.
You'll find the world is not that cruel.
This concludes the show.

No matter what you're trained to think,
it's time to get a grip.
Your race is standing on the brink.
and you're about to slip.”

Where once was four there now stood one,
The fool just waved his hand.
“An era of change has begun,
go forth and heal this land.”
