Everyone is a character in this play of life
Give me a character
I’ll write you a song
About the love they once had
Or all they did wrong
Maybe a saint
I’ll show you their ways
Of innocence and glory
For all of their days
A quiet one, so odd
Never understood
Tell who they are
And ruin their good
Lovers and couples
That never did fight
Or maybe the others
The dead, the night
The good and the bad
They come as them all
But to tell you the truth
To reveal them
They fall
So give me the character
I see in your eyes
And we’ll work with our feelings
Forget all the lies
The characters we make
Within our own mind
Are who we become
Our darkness we find
We find who we are
In the pits of our play
Forgetting the truth
The character we portray
A mirror image
Of who we should be
Forgetting reality
The character’s not me
