This is a poem rife with symbolism and means something different to everyone.
Sweet songs of the muddy riverside,
Dark stories of the world,
We all live in denial,
Of what is true to our blood.

Soft breezes of the evening,
Young love that's true,
They all run away from here,
To a place that seems to be new.

Kick me while I'm down,
You know the world will never get up,
Boot us to the depths of hell,
You know we got no luck.

Down the hills that roll to the shore,
T'where all the men die,
Cars full of druken men,
Gazing into the starry sky.

Locked into the hollows,
Feel their skin turn cold,
Their souls lift away,
Away to a city of gold.

Kick me while I'm down,
I won't get out of here,
Try as I might,
It's all the same round here.
