It's snowing outside...on a normal day of turmoil.
I want to love in the way that the wind throws the snow
down onto hills and streets, smothering the earth
and settling in deep with no regard or thought
to what the snow covers up,
but falls onto anything that gets in its way,
a bench, a birdhouse, shoes left on the porch.

I want to love in the way that cannot be stopped
by shovels, or tow trucks or a gallon of salt.
I want to turn each outdoor inch white,
a beautiful perfection disepersed onto all.

My love will hide every sidewalk crack, but must be endured
while love blows across the streets, sticking to the boots
of those who must get out and feel
love on their pink face, a snowflake on their tongue,
the cool love in their lungs and heaps and heaps of love
to jump into until their body stings.

I want to love in the way the world sees the snow coming,
a cloud on the radar, a whisper at the bank
people will prepare themselves and stock up their shelves
with water, gas and soup.

I want to bring so much love
that those who see it coming
won't know if they'll survive
the big storm that's on it's way.
