poetry about doors
What lies within the hinges
What is shut and kept to hide
With a single turn of the knob
What stories swarm inside
To block out unwanted memories
Slamming the door behind
To start a new beginning
The abandoned become another’s find
Secrets locked in every bolt
With every entry more unfold
With every creak and noise
Past stories can be told
Seeing both sides of life
From the outside to the in
Understanding from points of view
Has comprehension we can’t begin
A symbol of security yet loneliness
Secluded and trapped when closed
Or opening up to let free
Letting it all out to be exposed
It is not just an entryway
Behind what we see is more
The meaning is much deeper
Than just the thickness of the door
