This is another poem spurred from a writing contest on another site.
A shot heard ‘round the world
A day that will live in infamy
Soldiers plant a flag unfurled
Millions dead to bigotry
Shackled men are emancipated
Give me liberty or give me death
No representation indicated
In history, I shall hold my breath
We are told there’s nothing to fear
That we can all share a dream
As lady liberty sheds a tear
Two twins fall with deafening screams
I roll by the amber waves of grain
And see the ghosts done in by hate
Ring the liberty bell again
And free us from our chaotic state
For we must look through others eyes
So history we do not repeat
And shield us from the damning lies
That hides the truth and deceit
Now we stand at a precipice
A puzzle to unravel
A solution to clean up our mess
I’ll take the road less traveled
