I think most, if not all, heros are of this variety.
I hear you calling out to me
To walk through fire, brave the storm
But if the honest truth be told
I'd much prefer to stay at home

You could have anyone you ask
Yet I'm the choice you want to make
Forgive me if I but suggest
I think there might be some mistake

This feeble heart is known to choose
The easy path over the right
What kind of warrior is scared
To find himself alone at night?

These clumsy hands can't wield a sword
This coward heart's afraid to die
Why can't you see that you deserve
A better champion than I?

Before the armies of the night
In all their dreadful panoply
I'd be ashamed to stand and say
That all you have to show is me

Still safe here by my fireside
I hate the thought of rain and snow
But if you're sure it's me you want
Than if you need me, Lord, I'll go
