Separation brings isolation, despair, and heartbreak, but one never gives up hope....
I am rusty and tired
you're simply tried and true
five months at sea is a wave I could ride
if it meant one day I'd be back at your side
battle stations lovers, a ship's going down
stay in your sweet slumber, I won't make a sound
your face is the night sky, calm and promising
this storm just goes on, and on, and on

there's rage, there's loss, there's love, there's hope
and it's in every syllable ever spoke
the stairs still creek, each sound repeats
but they're not your footsteps, it's just defeat
five months at sea is a storm I would face
to once again be welcome at your place
battle stations lovers, a ship's going down
stay in your sweet slumber

for you, my brightest star
I won't make a sound
