A philosophical debate in poem form. Blank verse, with Dactylic and Anapestic Pentameter.
What is the purpose of life if we die at the end of it?
Why must our learning be cut short by useless mortality?
Must the old die to ensure the survival of mindless young?
                                          No.
We must fight to ensure the survival of "us", not of "them"!
We must not yield to younger naive generations that come!
We must search for a way to procure immortality now!
                                        Yes.
Must we rebel against Him who did give us this life of ours?
Must we infringe upon that which belongs to divinity?
Must we destroy the distinction between man and deity?
                                        Yes!
                                        ...But
Is there anyone there to be fought? And if so, for what gain?
Is there really a reason for one to eternally live?
Would there be any change if the old stayed on Earth for all time?
                                        No...
What of the young? Do they not deserve their chance to shape the world?
Why should the old and the withered be held as superior?
What can the minds of those stuck in the past bring that they cannot?
                                      Naught
Let us live for the day, and pass on what we can ere we die.
Let us live not so much for ourselves as for those who are young.
For the future is their birthright; this we must humbly accept.
                                      Fine
