A poem inspired by a neighbor's dirty little secret.
Oh, the curious mind of a thief!
Because, sometimes,
there's more to some criminals

than mere bank robbery
and break-ins.
Inky-black garments

are considered cliché.
Poets, Artists, even Crooks
can wear clever costumes

for blending in.
All three, I find,
can be Cultured, Classy,

and Sophisticated.
Why, who has the money
for art these days?

Who needs the money
for art these days?
After all,

who can afford
art these days?
I guess he thought

Andy Warhol
was Cultured, Classy,
and Sophisticated enough. But

if only the easy way out
was the wisest
way out!

All he wanted was the chance
to decorate his living room!
But I think old Warhol can finally

stop turning in his grave
because, the next piece of art
this thief will be

hanging (I'm sure!)
is in a jail cell.
For, if only

the easy way out
was the most legal
way out.
