Created for a contest.
Ashamed to cower from society longer,
The moon ventured out from behind her pale gossamer,
Exposing to all the dark and the light.
A sound of shattering glass broke through the night.
Where Jacob Dumane, crumpled over shards on his floor,
Watched the letter in his hearth catch and ignite
The fiery script: "From my heart to yours *Heart*..."
He screeched at the fire,
Heard not his words;
Got to his knees,
Felt the cuts burn
From the slivers of glass of his bottle of gin...
Never again, never again.
