I would love to love again, but love is dangerous.
When the glass broke,
I did not cry,
I simply slipped a piece inside
dragging hard and deep
along my thigh.

When the drugs ran dry,
I could not scream,
I ate a small dinner
and purged myself thinner.

When the punches turned bitter,
I would not fight,
I snuck out while he slept
and opened my legs to a new stranger.

When it all ended and I was all alone,
I broke down
promising myself
Never again
will I love another.
