I wrote this piece for a school assignment on the book "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas."
The Soldiers Lined up Two by Two,
And to my home I bid adue.
Good-bye my family, house and toys,
Good-bye the watch that brings me joys.
Now welcome in a world of pain,
Beating, torture, suffer and strain.
Those peas are no longer in a pod,
No smiles, no nothing, not even a nod.

But I will no longer be alone,
For I have a friend with a house and a home.
And every day I tell him of,
The world that I once knew and loved.
If only my best friend could see,
Everything was taken from me.
I lost my family, I have no food,
And all those soldiers are mean and rude.

I don't know if he understands,
That this is not the promise land.
But with a bang and crash of thunder,
My best friend crawls quickly under.
We march together, hearts at the moon,
And enter into a very dark room.
Then magically, our spirits rose,
As the door to the very dark room was closed.
