This is a poem I wrote for an Acrostic Poem contest.
ICE lightly envelops the outer windows of our cozy cottage nestled deep in the forest as we peer out to see the
SNOW-covered winter landscape where there is nothing to glimpse except for
DEATH for as far as the eye can see.
AWAKENING life comes in spring. Slowly, the blades of new green
GRASS cushions the earth once again, just in time for the summer’s new
PLANTING season to grow the fragrant
ROSE bushes that we have yearned for all year.
LIGHTENING dances and flashes across the early autumn sky as we prepare to
HARVEST our crops to prepare for the frigid season ahead where our
BLOOD runs thin through our chilled bodies as we wait to light the sacred
TREE to sit by and warm our souls. We tell stories to ready ourselves for one more
LONG NIGHT of winter when the snow begins to fall.
