A nurse is feedinmg an old lady in hospital who has a teddy bear.
The Old Lady
held her teddybear
as if
it were a child

The Nurse
bent over her
in her green apron
feeding her soup
with a spoon

Suddenly
as the nurse
gazed
at the lady wrinkled face
she recognised
love, blossom on it.

The eyes
were full of roses
it was as if
a spring breeze
had gently
blown away the years.

As the old lady
gently rocked
the teddy in her arms
she bent down
and kissed it on the cheek.

The nurse spoke
but the old lady
did not hear
she was re-visiting
motherhood
the motherhood
she had left behind
sixty years ago.
