Just a poem about lost love
Does your father know I would never go?
I asked my sleeping son
Does he really know I’ll stay?
Though my heart is still and far away?
Does he feel that I
Must love him still
Though the cold wind blows an angry chill
And what was once there
Beneath my breast
A manger full of happiness
Has gone the way of crows that fly
Away up toward the darkened sky
The sky that above us filled with clouds
And sadness comes in leaps and bounds
Like horses in the open air
They run ahead and do not care
About the dust they leave behind
They search and search but do not find
That hill they seek
The one to rest
The one they fell heaven blessed
Its time to stop and take a breath
And wonder where they’ll find the next
Look up toward God
See if he’s there
See if the angels try to care
They don’t they are way too busy see
Looking down at you and me

I’ll write a bit
And see what comes
From pen to page and wonder some
If the words I write will ever be read
Or if like wounded rabbits dead
I care not now
If this is true’

I only know what I must do
Let the words come brightly so I fancy myself a poet though
It matters not is=f they are read
What matters most is what I’ve said.
