After the wine and the good times, feelings, reality usually comes knocking; a harsh girl
2010.04.30 – Dionysus
Poem

Broken down and disciplined
The Lady stands, whip in hand
She surveys the devastation taking form
Slides one long, mocking glance across my world
Crack!  Hell on leather, ashen weather, and the thunder roars
And suddenly the Gods came out to play
She stands, whipped, surrounded by power and terror
And a delicate display of curling hair
Their rivulets playing beauty through the air
A moment in her mind, so immaculate
A misconception
Abort!  Abort!  But the controls know their roles
“Set for the heart of the Sun”
Shining on, the next weekend is Creation
Eden in Botanic Gardens
Adam, meet Eve
Jon, meet June
And the moonlight dapples down
Maybe this place, this Universe
Is our Eden, charmed and cursed
Our never-ending garden of delight
Magic, and mystery; near-endless highs
Spiralling, darkening, to the depths of the worst
And paddle on, some strange beast inside me
Fights at my will’s leash to be free
To run devastation
The wine of the times
The whites of the lies
As the night cracks and dies into the dawn
We, beaten, salting wounds, thrash on
In the grip of strings of words driving to get out
The rabbit-hole, the wonderworld
The Multiverse, and Her withering curses
Down below we burn the Underworld
Still we try, we’ve no need to learn
She adjusts her corset, smoothes the leather gloves
Blackest eyes, blackest lace, surrender feigning love
Step up!  Come, all ye who are faithful
Gather round the pedestal; take a pew
Redraw red-raw traces over dry skin
Open up, glistening listener, he slides in
We’ll fight for flight; hack with tooth and claw
And decorate the caves of Lascaux
With these pale reflections dancing on the screen
Pallid imitations of the World is all we see
All we need to feed the hopeful ghosts in our machines
Rebirth, something new, something broken, something blue
Ride the night, screaming wild, lightening fries the rules
Misbehaviour, miss; missing your behaviour
I remember the Technicolor light show
When it danced across your body, nape to toe
Sounds like the mountains are moving closer
Molehill problems looming into focus
You know, my kingdom’s fairly lonely
There’s a chilling auger pressing to disown me
Run your hands up her thighs
And feel the skin
Touch and taste, linger
When she let me dip in
I lay, seeing her framed in hair
An immaculate perception
Falling under the weight of time, time, time, time, time
The monotone intones the fates before us
Fly freely, and shine, above the clouds seen with her fawn eyes
Contact, and then there’s such a long distance
Gone, but she understands, whip in hand
That we’re allowed to hold many loves in one
And my Wonderworld rolls on, c’est Soleil
She shines on and I wander home
