short poem on emotions
Desire,
pain, fear and loathing
come to me like apparitions as I lay awake at night.

Desire is disguised fair and sweet,
like sun-drenched golden haired angels.
As I embrace it, demon appears,
with pallid face, green eyes and gnashing teeth
dripping with itself and engulfing me.

In dank and erie places find pain and fear,
slouching in the shadows just beyond my sight.
First one and then the other,
claw round my throat and down my spine
till there's nothing left.

Loathing seeps in like an oil spill over my body,
slowing every action and intention.
I gasp for every breath,
then slip inside the blackness and feel.
It's then that I know you.
