A character in one of my favorite books (which I will not name) inspired this poem...
Tears of sorrow drip from her heart
As a scream of grief rips her soul to shreds.
Her breath becomes heavy, ragged-
Her features twist into a picture of pain.
As she sobs within her broken soul
She clutches her heart
And falls to her knees.
Suddenly her breath stops short-
No more oxygen can reach her lungs.
Silently drowning in a pool of heartache
She struggles no more.
Her arms fall to her sides
Her eyes glaze over
And so, Death comes to claim her-
Leaving her with the vision of despair
A memory instilled in her mind forever.
