not a normal work for me
Lost in the sunrise I never noticed . . .

Lay the broken dreams along the beach,

Of joys last evening brightly promised,

Such things had seemed in easy reach.

Last night in light both bright and bold,

Love and laughter seemed to float, to soar,

But once evening's passions had grown cold

Storm wracked sand now showed a different shore,

One where my dreams had no chance to hold, not totter,

No place to stand when morning came,

Like sandcastles built too close to water,

They were dashed and crumbled, no one to blame,

So I dug down deep within my soul,

For the part that let false stand for true,

It, I armored and gave love's self control,

And a truer lens to view love through,

A message it needed, a map to follow,

A way through passion's short dark sight,

A way to stop more broken tomorrows,

To reach journeys end, and lasting light.

The message was hard, to hear, to follow,

Yet promised surcease from further pain,

The message I create reads as follows,

With hope someday, what I seek to gain,

Reach not for shinies, all bright and airy,

Build up instead from foundations, learned,

And then beneath the night so starry,

Your dreams will not break, but will obfirm.
