This poem was written as an answer to a challenge from a former friend.
A single thundercloud
Lingering in the distance
Calling to me
As I draw ever closer.

Lightning strikes
A nearby tree
Illuminating my night
As I draw ever closer.

A fire sparks
Flames leaping high
Climbing, reaching
As I draw ever nearer.

In a hollowed voice
My heart cries out
To the stars, to the moon
As I draw ever nearer.

I close my eyes
Listening, dreaming
Of days gone by, lost in darkness
As soft rains fall in my heart.

Songs resound in the growing dark-
Like a fiery dart searing my soul
Sweet hope pierces my existence
As soft Minnesota rains fall in my heart.
