Imaginary Umbrella- 2010
When rain pours you’re the first to run,
For all the good, for all the bad you hide.
Invisibility as blinding as the sun,
To shelter you stubborn heart deep inside.
And yes, this storm can be frightening,
And yes this hail can get rough.
But you can’t fear every bolt of lightening,
Be brave and say you’ve had enough.
Don’t let this awful storm raise its hands to you,
Demeaning you and condemning you worthless.
Because you weakness is all I have to look up too,
Ever since the storm forced the birds out of the nest,
You stood there and watched them fall.
You locked your windows, but the storm penetrated through,
And I stood there and watched it all,
And prayed to god I’d never be like you.
Instead of being a cloud to block out the storm,
You just stood there and let it soak you over and over again,
And when it didn’t you’d just worry about keeping yourself warm.
And this might just be a remember when,
But it always seems to pop up in my head.
You’ve never been anything more then afraid,
And whether you’re dry or wet, a live or dead,
Myself I degrade
