A poem about how there is no more good in the world, but did it really start out that way?
The fire so radiant, it crackles and hisses
As the old lady tells of a time that she misses
"Listen my dears," she says in a hush
"I'll tell you of when there was never a rush
For there once was a time when kings ruled the land
When minstrels played songs in their small merry bands
When dragons and knights battled for love of the princess
Singing sweet songs in her pink frilly dress
By night the stars shone so bright in the sky
No electric lights to help you get by
As soon as the sun sank under the ground
The very earth itself dare not make a sound
'Twas the time when stories of elders were told
Legends and tales of the heroes of old
Afterward there would be players so fair
Fire dancers throwing flames high in the air
The children, they watched all of this in awe
Trying to remember all that they saw
Their parents looked on without any fear
For everyone was always in good cheer
But good things, they don't tend to last
They burn out and become a thing of the past
From a small disagreement there started a war
That's when people discovered they wanted more
So began an era of struggle and conflict
A world so corrupt that no one could stop it
To this very day there's violence and crime
Liars and thieves who are still in their prime
How I wish for the days when no tears were shed
When children could still sleep soundly in bed
Maybe some day things will change once again
Until then I suppose we must live with the pain"
