Dystan and Grace

Sleeping or awake
The two are one.

Near, far
Beneath sun, beneath stars.

Dystan is Grace's Romeo
'Forbidden!' raged her father.

But Grace will not relent
'Dangerous!' cried her mother.

Yet Grace's heart is set
They do not know Dystan.

They realize only Dystan's family
A reaching, punishing arm; a rival city gang.

'They attempt to steal my territory!'
'They attempt to steal our daughter!'

But Grace is beyond caring
Grace is beyond stolen.

And Dystan's eyes have said the same
Newly, purely, they belong only to each other...now.

Family left behind
Grace waits unprotected on platform 9.

Trains roar past
Alone...time alone lasts and lasts.

The darkness descends
The subway lights flicker.

'Dystan!' finally running toward her
A ringing blasted beside her head.

Dystan, falling, bleeding...red
Father calling...calling 'Grace!'

Bullets fly from left and right
Dystan grabs Grace, concrete claims them.

Limbs entwined, blood mingling
Dystan and Grace, together, forever.
