A poem I wrote for Midsummer Day. I'm writing a poem for each of the 8 pagan Sabbats.
On May Day Eve the Lord and the Lady wed,
And we celebrated with cakes, herbal wine, and fresh bread.
Soon there after new life began to grow,
In the form of a tiny precious embryo.

The zenith of the Lord’s power increases day by day,
As Midsummer Day quickly comes our way.
We honor Him as the Green Man in all His masculinity,
He is now coming into the height of His sovereignty.

Father Sun, we thank you for the life-giving light you manifest,
As we honor and celebrate you to ensure a large harvest.
Mother Earth, we admire you heavy in pregnancy,
In all your glory we revere you on this Sabbat of fertility.

During this Fire Festival we adorn ourselves in costumes and gowns bright and bold,
In glorious shades of green, yellow, blue, red, and gold.
Upon our heads we each wear a beautiful headpiece,
Garlands and crowns made of lavender, wild roses, wisteria, and anise.

We all come together on this All Couple’s Day for competitions and the many games we love to play,
And to celebrate Handfastings in the old Pagan way.
We feast on fresh vegetables, summer fruits, and clove honey,
While we toast with all and mead the Earth, Sun, Moon, Stars, and the Wondrous Sea.

As the hot day gives way to a chilly night,
A huge bonfire we do light.
We are at peace at knowing this coming Yule, The God will be born again,
And The Goddess will rest and once again He will reign.
